Why Join PACSCL?
PACSCL membership is by institution, not by individual.
Membership in PACSCL is an investment in the combined strengths and skills of the special collections profession in the Philadelphia Region, and in the communities we serve. Current PACSCL members are listed here.
PACSCL strives to be open and inclusive and we recognize that there are many professionals in the area with experiences, knowledge, and skills that could enrich our understanding and activities. That is the key benefit of PACSCL membership. By joining PACSCL, you are ensuring that your institution can leverage the knowledge and experience of over 200 special collections professionals in the greater Philadelphia area. You are also providing your staff with professional development and training opportunities through service that they might not be able to obtain elsewhere.
Staff at member institutions can participate in PACSCL through standing and ad hoc committees as well as working groups, which are created on a temporary basis to achieve specific goals.
Staff may also receive priority registration for PACSCL workshops and other programs.
Member institutions receive discounts to RDA Toolkit, Library Juice Academy classes, and Hollinger/Metal Edge products.
To join PACSCL, potential members must have the following:
- 501(c)(3) status
- They own or operate a special collections library with collections accessible to the public
- A demonstrated willingness to contribute to PACSCL and participate actively in its projects and programs
